Central African Republic to use official Meme coin CAR to tokenize land, moving towards digital land transactions

The Central African Republic is using blockchain technology to digitize state land and will enable transactions through the official meme coin CAR. From June 2025, more than 1,700 hectares of land in the country will be tokenized, and users will need CAR coins to obtain land concessions online.

CAR is a meme coin based on the Solana blockchain launched by the Central African Republic. It was initially packaged as a project to "support national development" when it was launched to the public. With the announcement of the land tokenization plan, this digital asset has gained real-world application scenarios for the first time.

President Faustin-Archange Touadera announced the policy through social media, saying that "a new era of openness and transparency is about to begin." The government website shows that the land has been registered to the national mineral procurement office COMIGEM, and future transactions will rely entirely on the allocation and certification of CAR coins on the blockchain.

The supply structure of CAR coins has also been made public. Of the total supply, 45% is marked as "national development" and "charity", and 25% belongs to "creators and companies", which is likely to be controlled by COMIGEM or the government. Current market data shows that the price of the coin has risen by 17% since the tokenization plan was announced.

CAR coin is no longer a simple online joke, but has become a ticket to enter the national digital land market. Investors, residents or external participants who want to acquire land must hold the coin, which also means that the liquidity and practicality of CAR coin will continue to be tested.

Although many countries around the world have explored land tokenization, it is the first time that Meme coin has been used as the only payment method. This attempt by the Central African Republic may redefine the value boundary of Meme coin.
