According to reports, Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee attended the opening ceremony of the 16th "Cross-Strait and Hong Kong and Macao Economic and Trade Cooperation Seminar" yesterday and delivered a speech, emphasizing that Hong Kong is making every effort to promote the development of the artificial intelligence industry and accelerate the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries, with the goal of building an international innovation and technology center with global influence.

In terms of policy and funding support, John Lee pointed out that Hong Kong has established a number of special funding programs to actively cultivate local scientific research and industrial ecology. This includes a special funding program for artificial intelligence with a total amount of HK$3 billion, which is specifically used to support local universities, research and development institutions and technology companies to use the computing power resources of supercomputing centers to promote key scientific research breakthroughs in the field of AI.

In addition, the SAR government will also set up a "Technology Industry Guidance Fund" with a scale of HK$10 billion to guide market capital inflows, strengthen support for strategic emerging industries such as artificial intelligence and robots, and help the future technology industry to flourish. This fund plan will focus on key nodes in the industrial chain, promote the implementation and transformation of scientific research results, and create more local technology companies with international competitiveness.

John Lee said that the development of artificial intelligence not only contributes to technological innovation, but also has far-reaching significance for the transformation and upgrading of many traditional industries such as finance, manufacturing, and medical care. Hong Kong will give full play to its unique advantages of "backed by the motherland and connected to the world", link up the resources of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and accelerate the creation of an innovative ecosystem covering talents, capital, scientific research and industry.
