Masayoshi Son promotes trillion-dollar AI center, intends to join forces with TSMC and Trump team

According to multiple sources familiar with the matter, SoftBank Group founder and CEO Masayoshi Son has recently been actively promoting a grand "American Artificial Intelligence Super Center" plan to TSMC (Nasdaq: TSM) and US President Trump's team. The total investment in the project is as high as 1 trillion US dollars, aiming to make the United States the core hub of the global AI industry.

It is reported that the AI center will integrate the most advanced chip manufacturing capabilities, AI model training infrastructure, data center clusters, and supercomputing platforms connected to the national network security system. Son is seeking TSMC to provide cutting-edge process wafer foundry support for the project, and invites the Trump administration to provide policies, land and financial incentives to jointly promote "Made in the USA" and technological sovereignty goals.

This plan is considered to be Son's most ambitious global technology strategy extension in recent years. Its core concept is to create an "infrastructure version of the Internet in the AI era" and promote the concentration of the AI ecosystem in the United States in the context of the US-China technology game. SoftBank has not made any official comments on the plan.

As the world's largest chip manufacturer, TSMC has currently built two wafer fabs in Arizona, USA, and is expected to start mass production in 2025. According to people familiar with the matter, Son hopes to use TSMC's technical capabilities to provide infrastructure support for large-scale training and deployment of AI chips in the future.

The plan has also attracted the attention of some senior officials of the current US government. According to informed officials, the Trump team is evaluating the geopolitical value and employment potential of the project, and initially believes that it may be in line with Trump's "Rebuilding American Manufacturing" strategy, especially in the context of the high intersection of AI, semiconductors and national security.

Although the project is still in the early stages of communication, its scale, goals and participants have attracted widespread attention from the global technology industry. If implemented, the "Super AI Center" may reshape the global artificial intelligence industry landscape and win long-term technological advantages for the United States.
