According to the official announcement, Bitstamp, a cryptocurrency exchange under Robinhood, has obtained the Major Payment Institution (MPI) license issued by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), and has officially obtained the qualification to carry out crypto-related services in Singapore. This marks Bitstamp's official entry into the Asia-Pacific market and is also an important part of Robinhood's global crypto strategy.

The acquisition of the MPI license means that Bitstamp can provide a number of core services including cryptocurrency trading, transfers, payments and digital asset custody in Singapore, further expanding its international business territory.

Previously, Robinhood completed the acquisition of Bitstamp for US$200 million in 2025, aiming to accelerate the international development of Robinhood's crypto business with its mature compliance framework and global user base. Bitstamp is one of the oldest cryptocurrency exchanges in the world, with strong compliance operation experience and brand influence in the European market.

This landing in Singapore also reflects Robinhood's high attention to the Asia-Pacific market. In the future, it may build a one-stop crypto financial platform covering retail trading, institutional services and payment functions around Bitstamp.
