Crypto.com Signs MoU with Dubai Duty Free to Promote Crypto Payments in Retail Scenarios

Crypto.com, the world's leading cryptocurrency service platform, announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Dubai Duty Free. The two parties will jointly explore the introduction of cryptocurrency payments in one of the world's largest airport retail scenarios to provide passengers with a more diverse and convenient payment experience.

According to the agreement, Crypto.com will assist Dubai Duty Free in enabling crypto payment functions in its offline stores and official e-commerce platforms, supporting settlement options including mainstream crypto assets such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDC. Once the service is launched, it will allow tens of millions of international passengers to pay directly with digital assets when shopping at Dubai International Airport.

This cooperation is an important manifestation of Dubai's continued advancement of its "Global Crypto-Friendly City" strategy. Dubai Duty Free's turnover in the first half of the year reached 4.118 billion dirhams (about 1.128 billion US dollars), a year-on-year increase of 5.34%, showing strong consumption momentum. By introducing crypto payments, the agency hopes to further enhance the technology content and payment experience in the international retail competition and attract more crypto users and high-net-worth tourists.

Stuart Isted, General Manager of Crypto.com Middle East and Africa, said: "As a benchmark for global airport retail, Dubai Duty Free is an important pilot for the actual implementation of crypto payments. We are very much looking forward to demonstrating the actual utility of crypto assets in mainstream scenarios through this cooperation."

This cooperation not only strengthens Crypto.com's strategic layout in the Middle East market, but also opens a demonstration window for global crypto payments in the field of travel retail. In the future, similar cooperation is expected to expand to multiple high-consumption fields such as aviation, hotels, and luxury goods, promoting crypto assets to become a new cross-border settlement and consumption medium.
