According to an update on Tesla's official website, Grok, an AI assistant developed by Elon Musk's artificial intelligence company xAI, has been officially pushed to eligible Tesla vehicles. This marks that Grok has officially entered the in-vehicle ecosystem and become the "personalized AI co-pilot" of Tesla owners.
It is reported that the new US version of the car delivered from July 12 will be integrated with Grok by default. Users can wake up the assistant through the in-vehicle screen application or long press the steering wheel voice button to have a natural language conversation with it. Grok provides [core functions of multi-personality customization], including:
Personalized interaction style: Grok can change its "tone" and "personality" according to user settings, providing a diverse conversation experience. For example, users can choose to have Grok respond in a more formal, humorous, friendly or professional manner.
Children's mode: A mode designed for young passengers, Grok will interact in a gentler and more interesting tone, and provide entertainment functions such as storytelling and fun questions and answers, suitable for family travel scenarios.
Scenario Adaptation: Users can choose different personality modes based on the driving environment or mood, such as choosing a more relaxed and humorous style when driving long distances, or a concise and direct style when quick information is needed.
Grok is currently launched as a Beta test version, and does not yet support direct control of the vehicle's navigation, air conditioning and other system functions. Tesla said that all user conversation data will be anonymized to ensure privacy and security.
Currently, Grok is only available for Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y and Cybertruck models equipped with AMD infotainment processors and running software version 2025.26 and above. More importantly, users can experience this feature in the vehicle without registering a Grok account or paying additional subscription fees.
Future Development
xAI and Tesla plan to further enrich Grok's personality library, possibly introducing more customization options or modes related to specific cultural and language habits.
As Grok's integration with vehicle systems deepens, personality customization may expand to more complex scenarios, such as adjusting the interaction style based on the driving mode (autonomous or manual driving).
