OpenAI officially launches ChatGPT Atlas browser, challenging Google Chrome head-on

On October 22nd (UTC 8), OpenAI, a leader in artificial intelligence, officially released its first AI-native browser, "ChatGPT Atlas," marking the company's official entry from conversational AI services into the web browser market, directly competing with traditional browsers like Google Chrome.

Built on the open-source Chromium engine, "ChatGPT Atlas" deeply integrates OpenAI's proprietary AI capabilities while maintaining compatibility with the existing web ecosystem. Its key feature is a built-in intelligent agent system called "Operator," which, with user authorization, can automatically complete various web tasks, such as intelligently filling out forms, assisting with online reservations, and automatically extracting and summarizing article content, significantly improving user browsing efficiency and operational experience.

Atlas will initially be available on macOS, with Windows, iOS, and Android versions also in the countdown for release, expected to launch soon to achieve full platform coverage.

At the launch event, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated that ChatGPT Atlas is more than just a browser; it's an intelligent web portal that integrates conversation, browsing, and automation. He further emphasized that the launch of this product is a key step in OpenAI's strategic upgrade, symbolizing the company's shift from providing a single chatbot service to building and leading the next-generation web interaction ecosystem, aiming to redefine how people access, understand, and interact with information on the internet.
