On November 7th, Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed publicly that Tesla plans to build its own large-scale chip manufacturing plant to meet the growing demand for high-performance chips in future smart electric vehicles.

Musk further indicated that Tesla does not rule out the possibility of a strategic partnership with semiconductor giant Intel in the process of advancing this plan, to integrate the advantages of both companies in chip design, manufacturing, and process technology.

This statement highlights Tesla's strategic intention to strengthen its supply chain self-control and reduce external dependence. Against the backdrop of a continued global chip shortage, Tesla hopes to further enhance its control over the entire industry chain by building its own wafer fab, and to provide stable and advanced chip support for next-generation autonomous driving technology and in-vehicle computing platforms.

A partnership with Intel would also be a significant milestone in the deep integration of the automotive and semiconductor technology sectors.
