The White House received more than 10,000 public comments on its AI development plan

The White House said on April 24 that it received more than 10,000 public comments on its proposed AI action plan, showing widespread public interest in the technology amid the growing global competition for AI leadership.

Stakeholders who submitted comments included AI giants such as OpenAI, Meta, Amazon, Google and Microsoft. In addition, academia, nonprofits and industry associations also actively participated in the discussion.

A preliminary review of the comments received by the White House from major private companies found that several recurring themes included the need to increase investment in US energy resources to support AI development; enhance the global influence of US AI companies through foreign policy; and improve domestic infrastructure to promote the development of AI technology at home.

In addition, many companies called for an open and innovative framework to guide the development of the US AI industry while providing necessary security for individuals.

The White House issued a notice for public comments on February 6. The government said that these comments "will help define the priority policy actions needed to maintain and enhance US AI dominance." US President Donald Trump has pledged to make the United States "the world capital of AI and cryptocurrency."

National security issues raise concerns

National security has become a key issue among companies that submitted feedback. Venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz pointed out: "The development of AI models is a matter of national significance and should be regulated at the national level. This is critical to the national security, geopolitical goals, and economic and social well-being of the United States."

OpenAI also raised related concerns, explicitly listing China as a competitor with "strategic advantages" in the field of AI. The company pointed out that as a "centralized country", China has the ability to mobilize resources quickly, which may have a significant impact on the global AI competition.

In January 2025, the Chinese company DeepSeek released its R1 model, which caused alarm in the US technology community and caused domestic stock market fluctuations.

AI and cryptocurrency are widely regarded as the two most transformative cutting-edge technologies, and the integration between the two is also increasing, such as the combination of AI-driven intelligent agents and digital financial products.
