According to Arthur Madrid, co-founder and CEO of decentralized metaverse and gaming platform The Sandbox, wallet interoperability remains the vision for Web3 gaming.
Madrid sat down with Sebastien Borget, co-founder and COO of The Sandbox, for an exclusive interview at the Crypto Polo event in Dubai. They said that interoperability for Web3 gaming remains a goal for The Sandbox. “So, the vision is still obvious to us. You need to be able to play any game with one wallet to combine all the utility that you collect and earn,” Madrid noted.
The Sandbox CEO mentioned that one of the main narratives they have seen in the past few months is that players can use a single wallet to travel between different games. He said that players accessing games through one wallet and using their items on different platforms remains an exciting topic for Web3 gaming enthusiasts.
Web3 gaming is still ‘booming’, tools are becoming more accessible
Arthur Madrid added that despite the market slowdown, the Web3 gaming space is still booming. The tools and infrastructure required to create new games have become more accessible.
"I can feel that the tools needed to create games are becoming more accessible. If you look at the number of games created on gaming platforms in the last two years, it's still booming," Madrid said.
The executive also mentioned that a new generation of programmers and programming tools are working on new types of gameplay. Madrid added that the field only needs one great game to be a catalyst for wider adoption of Web3 technology in gaming.
"The point is, you always need a moment for a game to have an impact. This is a rebirth moment," Madrid said.
The Sandbox co-founder emphasizes the shift in NFT utility
Sebastien Borget told the editor that the non-fungible token (NFT) space is now experiencing a shift in focus. The executive said that their team is seeing an increase in the maturity of the industry, moving away from NFTs that are only used for fundraising and personal avatars, and moving towards better use cases.
Borget said that this shift is driven by an increase in consumer demand for digital assets. He pointed out that creators and developers must focus on adding more value to their NFTs to keep up with this demand.
“At The Sandbox, we continue to see increased demand for our virtual land, avatars, and other NFT collections like Jurassic World because they can be used immediately in-game,” Borget said.
