On August 24th, Zhitong Finance reported that renowned billionaire investor and PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel is actively investing in the Ethereum ecosystem, betting it will become Wall Street's preferred platform for tokenizing real-world assets (RWAs).

Founders Fund, founded by Thiel, has already made significant investments in Ethereum-related assets and has invested in several innovative companies using Ethereum as a reserve asset, including ETHZilla and Bitmine.

Thiel's investment rationale is based on a more disruptive vision: he believes that if Ethereum can successfully develop into an alternative channel for clearing and settling US dollars, stocks, and other assets outside the traditional financial system, its native cryptocurrency, Ether (ETH), will significantly increase in value due to increased network usage and scale.

This investment not only reflects his long-term belief in blockchain technology's potential to reshape financial infrastructure, but also reflects the growing attention paid by institutional investors to decentralized finance (DeFi) and the trend of assets moving onto blockchains.

However, this has not been without its challenges in the market. Nansen Research Analyst Nicolai Søndergaard pointed out that the current narrative of "Wall Street rebuilding financial infrastructure on Ethereum" is, to a certain extent, more of a marketing strategy aimed at attracting investors to assets related to the Ethereum ecosystem.

He believes that although Ethereum has advantages in technical feasibility and ecosystem maturity, truly achieving large-scale migration from traditional finance still faces multiple challenges, including regulation, technological scalability, and institutional acceptance.
