Cloudflare plans to launch USD-backed stablecoin NET Dollar for AI network transactions

On September 25, Investing reported that Cloudflare (NYSE: NET), a renowned cloud service and cybersecurity provider, officially announced its plans to launch a U.S. dollar stablecoin called "NET Dollar." Backed by U.S. dollar reserves, the stablecoin aims to provide instant, secure, and scalable transaction solutions for AI-driven online interactions.

Cloudflare stated that the launch of NET Dollar aims to modernize payment infrastructure by enabling seamless transactions across currencies, regions, and time zones, effectively reducing the time delays and settlement risks inherent in traditional payment systems.

Crucially, the stablecoin is designed to be programmable, allowing AI agents to automatically execute instant payments when pre-set conditions are met, significantly improving the efficiency of automated economic activities.

The company further emphasized that NET Dollar represents not only an upgrade to its technological infrastructure but also a key part of its business model transformation. Cloudflare intends to gradually transition away from its reliance on advertising revenue and toward a more equitable and sustainable value distribution system where content creators and developers receive reasonable rewards for their contributions.

At the same time, this mechanism will also help AI companies achieve transparent compensation for the data and content sources they use, hopefully establishing a healthier collaborative relationship between AI and the content ecosystem.
