India launches ChatGPT e-commerce payment pilot

On October 10th, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and renowned fintech company Razorpay jointly announced a partnership with artificial intelligence research institute OpenAI to launch an AI-powered payment service on the ChatGPT platform.

The program, now in its pilot phase, will enable users to pay for various purchases directly within ChatGPT using India's widely used Unified Payments Interface (UPI). This collaboration marks a further integration of AI and digital payment infrastructure.

By integrating NPCI's UPI, ChatGPT users will be able to seamlessly complete payments while interacting with AI, enhancing the user experience and expanding the application of AI in everyday consumer scenarios. This move not only demonstrates India's innovative capabilities in digital payments but also reflects the accelerating cross-fertilization of AI and financial services in the global tech ecosystem.

As the pilot phase progresses and its functionality continues to improve, this service is expected to provide more users with an efficient, convenient, and secure smart payment experience, further driving the intelligent upgrade of India's digital payment ecosystem.
