According to The Block, New York City Mayor Eric Adams has officially signed an executive order establishing the nation's first mayoral-level Office of Digital Assets and Blockchain Technology.

The office aims to promote the responsible use of digital assets and blockchain technology and will be headed by Moises Rendon, who has over a year of experience working in the digital asset sector in New York City.

The newly established office will coordinate collaboration between the cryptocurrency industry and the government, working with federal and state governments to promote relevant policies to attract compliant and innovative blockchain and cryptocurrency projects to New York. Furthermore, the office will actively promote talent acquisition to help New York City maintain its competitiveness in financial innovation.

Eric Adams has maintained a positive stance on cryptocurrency throughout his tenure, receiving salary in Bitcoin and hosting cryptocurrency-related summits. However, his term as mayor ends at the end of this year, and he announced his withdrawal from the next term last month due to campaign funding issues.
