Musk predicts that in five years, traditional mobile phones and apps will disappear, and most of the content consumed by humans will be generated by AI.

In a podcast, Tesla CEO Elon Musk once again demonstrated his forward-looking vision of technological evolution, proposing a highly disruptive future: within the next five to six years, the traditional form of smartphones and applications will completely disappear, and the vast majority of content consumed by humans will be generated by artificial intelligence. Musk pointed out that future devices will no longer rely on the "operating system" we are familiar with, nor will there be the concept of "applications." He described it as: "Your phone is essentially just an interface that presents images and sounds;

it actively predicts what you most want to see and hear, and generates corresponding content in real time. We will integrate as much artificial intelligence as possible into this device." He further explained that the "phones" we use at that time will no longer be communication tools in the traditional sense, but will evolve into "edge nodes for performing AI inference tasks," equipped with wireless communication modules to maintain connectivity. In Musk's envisioned future, powerful AI on the server side will communicate efficiently with AI on the user device side (i.e., the terminal we used to call "phones"), generating arbitrary video content in real time according to user needs.

This transformation will not only completely reshape how we access information, but also redefine the essence of human-computer interaction.

This means that our current model of relying on fixed applications and actively searching for and selecting content will be replaced by an immersive experience that is proactively predicted, generated in real time, and precisely delivered by AI. A digital ecosystem that is "application-free, interface-free, and fully intelligent" is quietly brewing in the near future.
