Popular fast food chain polls on launching its own cryptocurrency, Burger Koin. Fast food giant Burger King has been revisiting the topic of cryptocurrencies from time to time, seemingly waiting for the perfect moment to join the trend. In 2023, its Paris branch has started accepting Bitcoin payments. But it does not yet have its own currency.

Today, the company published an X post to poll its social media community and ask for everyone's opinion on whether launching its own cryptocurrency would be a good idea.

The Burger King UK X account bluntly asked its army of fans: "Should we make a crypto burger coin called Burger Koin?"

The community's response was mixed. Some thought it was a good idea, while others did not support the move. "No, crypto is already full of meme coin scammers," said one X user. Another user suggested that the company might as well launch its own native merchandise.

In 2023, the same account ignited the Dogecoin community, commenting on a tweet by a popular cryptocurrency trader and promoter that Burger King had started accepting Bitcoin payments in Paris. The reply said "We need DOGE". In addition to Paris, Burger King currently accepts Bitcoin in the Netherlands, Germany, and Venezuela as of February 2025. However, in 2021, Burger King in Brazil began accepting DOGE, but Burger King in the UK has not yet accepted it.
