SoftBank Group recently announced that it has agreed to acquire private equity firm DigitalBridge Group, valuing the data center-focused investment firm at approximately $4 billion (including debt).

According to a joint statement released by both companies on Monday, the Japanese conglomerate will acquire the New York-listed DigitalBridge for $16 per share in cash, representing a premium of approximately 15% over its closing price on December 26.

This acquisition is a key component of SoftBank's ongoing digital infrastructure strategy, aiming to capitalize on the growing demand for data centers and computing power driven by the booming development of artificial intelligence technology.

Through this acquisition, SoftBank will further enhance its global digital asset portfolio and operational capabilities, providing a foundational support for its long-term development in AI and related high-growth technologies.

The agreement has been signed and is expected to close in the second half of 2026, subject to regulatory review and approval. Both parties stated that this collaboration will provide DigitalBridge with more stable capital support while helping SoftBank deepen its infrastructure footprint in the global digital wave.
