President Trump will announce a major cryptocurrency policy change this week, with plans to establish a strategic reserve of Bitcoin, according to Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. The Pavlovic Today website reports that the strategic reserve will focus on Bitcoin, while other cryptocurrencies will be treated differently.

Commerce Secretary Lutnick hinted at this development in a conversation with The Pavlovic Today’s Ksenija Pavlovic McAteer ahead of the first White House Crypto Summit scheduled for Friday. Lutnick mentioned that Trump, who has been increasingly supportive of the digital asset industry in recent times, will lay out his vision for Bitcoin and broader cryptocurrency regulation.

In an interview with The Pavlovic Today on Tuesday night, Secretary Lutnick confirmed that the strategic reserve of Bitcoin is part of Trump’s plan. He also raised the question of how other cryptocurrencies would be treated under this new policy. He said the model for managing these different cryptocurrencies will be revealed at the summit on Friday.

Under the plan proposed by Trump, Bitcoin will be given a unique status. Lutnick revealed that the president has shown a strong interest in establishing a strategic reserve of Bitcoin, which was also a topic he discussed frequently during the campaign. Lutnick expects the plan to be put into action on Friday.

In addition, Lutnick pointed out that under the new policy, other cryptocurrencies or crypto tokens will also be treated positively, but in a different way than Bitcoin.
