Google Trends data shows Bitcoin popularity amid rising prices

Google data shows that searches for "bitcoin" are increasing. At its core, Google Trends quantifies the popularity of a topic - such as "bitcoin" - by tracking how search volume changes over time and region.

Google Trends (GT) does not display raw search counts, but normalizes the data by dividing each data point for "bitcoin" by the highest search popularity during that period and scaling the result between 0 and 100.

A value of 100 marks the point at which "bitcoin" recorded its highest relative search popularity, while lower numbers reflect a decline in attention relative to that peak. The global 90-day GT indicator shows that Bitcoin's score has risen from 36 on May 7 to 58 today.

Over the past 30 days, the score has risen from 53 on May 7 to 85 on May 9. Similarly, searches for "bitcoin price" have risen from 47 on May 7 to 79 today. The GT indicator shows that the regions with the most searches for "bitcoin" are Switzerland, El Salvador, Austria, Slovenia and Nigeria.

For “bitcoin price,” the top regions are Slovenia, Canada, Estonia, Singapore, and Australia. Related topics include “gold price” and the Dow Jones Industrial Average. Other queries include “bitcoin dominance” and “bitcoin treasury.” Increased search volume and Bitcoin’s climbing price suggest that the digital asset is gaining attention and may be closer to mainstream acceptance.

As curiosity and related topics across regions tie Bitcoin to established markets like gold and the Dow Jones Industrial Average, this pattern could signal market consolidation and inspire further analysis of how web searches reflect shifts in investor sentiment.
