On October 11th (UTC+8), according to Coinglass data, the global cryptocurrency market experienced a historic surge in liquidations over the past 24 hours, with approximately 1.6 million accounts liquidated, totaling $19.13 billion, setting a record for the highest single-day liquidation ever.
Long positions saw $16.679 billion in liquidations, while short positions saw $2.454 billion. The largest single liquidation occurred on the Hyperliquid platform in the ETH-USDT trading pair, amounting to approximately $203 million.
Major cryptocurrencies generally experienced significant corrections. BTC briefly fell below $102,000, hitting a low of $101,516, a 24-hour drop of 16%; ETH plummeted to $3,400, a 22% drop; and SOL plummeted below $150, hitting a low of $141.3, a 24-hour drop of 31.83%.
The altcoin market experienced even worse performance. IP plummeted from $7.8 to around $1 in just one hour, a drop of 87%, before rebounding slightly to $4.8. PUMP also plummeted from $0.00488 to $0.000411 before recovering to $0.00385.
Even Binance's staking products were not spared. WBETH plummeted to a low of $430.65, a drop of over 800%. BNSOL plummeted from $213 to $34.9, also a drop of over 500%. Stablecoins also experienced unusual volatility. USDE briefly fell to $0.65, depreciating by 54%, before recovering slightly to around $0.96.
