During the recent Binance Blockchain Week event, Binance founder CZ and renowned economist and long-time cryptocurrency critic Peter Schiff engaged in a lively debate on "Bitcoin vs. Tokenized Gold."

The two debated the value storage and monetary attributes of digital assets and traditional precious metals, attracting significant attention from numerous industry participants.

CZ firmly expressed his optimism for Bitcoin's future performance. He stated, "I think gold will perform well, but Bitcoin will perform even better." He emphasized Bitcoin's advantages in verifiable scarcity, portability, divisibility, and transfer efficiency, pointing out its greater adaptability as "digital gold" in the younger generation and increasingly digitized economic system.

Peter Schiff, as always, defended gold, particularly its tokenized form. He argued, "Tokenized gold solves many of the problems gold faces in monetary use cases—such as ease of transaction, divisibility, and circulation—without sacrificing gold's inherent utility and scarcity." Schiff emphasized that gold has stood the test of time for thousands of years, and its intrinsic value and safe-haven properties are difficult for any emerging asset to replace.

A particularly interesting moment occurred during the debate: CZ suddenly displayed a physical gold bar and invited Schiff to verify its authenticity on the spot. After careful examination, Schiff stated that because the minting institution's mark on the gold bar was uncommon, he could not confirm its authenticity immediately and would require professional testing.

CZ then used this opportunity to elaborate on his point: "This is one of the challenges gold faces in daily circulation—it's difficult for ordinary people to easily and quickly verify its authenticity, while every Bitcoin transaction and every unit can be instantly verified through a public ledger, giving it a clear advantage in trustworthiness and convenience."

This dialogue not only highlighted the fundamental differences between the two assets in their physical and digital forms but also reflected the ongoing clash between traditional financial concepts and the logic of crypto finance.

Despite their differing positions, the discussion consistently revolved around a common core: in an era of increasing uncertainty, which asset can more effectively store value and serve people's monetary needs?
