BBVA recently announced a multi-year strategic partnership agreement with OpenAI, a leading company in artificial intelligence, to roll out ChatGPT Enterprise to its approximately 120,000 employees worldwide, a tenfold expansion from the previous pilot phase.
This significant collaboration marks a crucial step for BBVA in fully embracing AI technology and driving digital transformation, aiming to enhance customer experience, optimize internal operational efficiency, and deepen the innovative application of AI across all aspects of its financial business through AI empowerment.
According to the agreement, BBVA will leverage OpenAI's advanced technology to develop a series of customized AI solutions, focusing on improving customer interaction patterns, enhancing employee productivity, optimizing risk analysis and control processes, and intelligently restructuring internal processes such as software development. Previously, BBVA successfully piloted the ChatGPT project with some employees, with significant initial results—saving each participating employee an average of nearly three hours of daily task processing time per week, demonstrating the enormous potential of AI in improving work efficiency.
To ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient integration of AI technology into global operations, this collaboration also encompasses specialized training programs and a structured tool integration framework to support a unified and robust technology rollout across all BBVA business units in 25 countries.
Furthermore, BBVA is actively exploring providing intelligent services directly to end customers through interfaces such as ChatGPT, further accelerating its strategic transformation into an "AI-native bank." BBVA Chairman Carlos Torres Vila emphasized that this deep collaboration with OpenAI will help the bank create a smarter, more personalized, and seamless financial service experience for its customers.
It's worth noting that OpenAI has recently been very active in the capital markets and industrial applications.
In addition to its collaboration with BBVA, there were previous reports that Disney planned to make a $1 billion equity investment in OpenAI, demonstrating that leading AI technology platforms are increasingly favored by giants across various industries globally, and that the commercialization and ecosystem integration of artificial intelligence technology is entering a new phase of acceleration.
