A team led by Academician Guo Guangcan of the University of Science and Technology of China, including Professors Han Zhengfu and Chen Wei, in collaboration with Professor Xue Kaiping and others from the same university, has made progress in constructing heterogeneous quantum networks. They have innovatively proposed and experimentally demonstrated a fully heterogeneous quantum network architecture and its key supporting technologies. Based on this architecture, they have realized an open interconnection network between quantum systems of different physical dimensions, while simultaneously supporting the parallel execution and automatic optimization of multiple different quantum tasks. This lays a crucial technological foundation for a blueprint towards an open and diverse quantum internet. This achievement was published in the international academic journal *Nature Communications*. (Source: Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily)
